IPC Releases the IPC-2221B Gerber Coupon Generator to Members

IPC – Association Connecting Electronics Industries announces the release of the IPC-2221B Gerber Coupon Generator, a new annual subscription service for IPC members. The IPC-6012C-TC Test Coupon Addendum to the IPC-6012C, Qualification and Performance Specification for Rigid Printed Boards, allows a user or supplier to enter into an agreement to use the new IPC-2221B Appendix A test coupon designs for acceptance of production lots. Not doing so results in microsection evaluations based on outdated test designs going back to the late 1980s, which do little to properly assess modern technology needs.
Among the features of the IPC-2221B Gerber Coupon Generator is an intuitive “Design Parameters” interface, which utilizes an auto quality check feature. This makes sure design rules for the test designs established in the IPC-2221B are automatically maintained before Gerber Files are generated.
The most commonly used test coupons (AB-R, and D) for product acceptance will be available initially, with other test coupons available in the near future.
The IPC-2221B Gerber Coupon Generator is available as an annual subscription solution, meeting current printed board design parameters to generate Gerber Files of IPC-2221B Appendix A test coupon designs at any time. This allows users to generate coupons when they want, and as often as they need. The IPC-2221B Gerber Coupon Generator service is only available for IPC members. To learn more about the IPC-2221B Gerber Coupon Generator, visit the IPC Bookstore. For information on membership, contact membership@ipc.org.
